I look at you and I am stricken with grief,
Because you seem so totally unaware
Of the path you’re travelling on.
I look at you and my heart aches deep inside,
Because you seem so oblivious of the cliff
That lies just beyond the next fork in the road.
I look at you and I wonder
How you could possibly not see
The danger that lies ahead of you,
Or how you could possibly ignore
The only One who is able to protect you,
And to keep you safe from harm.
I look at you, my child, my brother, my sister,
My niece, my nephew, my cousin,
My in-law, my unsaved loved ones, my friend,
And my spirit groans deep within me,
Because you do not know my Lord,
The only one who can save you and set you free!
I look at you and I wonder how is it possible,
That you still do not know how much He loves you,
Or how much He longs to make you His own?
I look at you and I wonder,
How is it possible for you
Not to hear Him gently pleading with you to come home?
I look at you and I wonder how is it so hard
For you to see all that my Lord has in store for you,
That He longs to give you so much more
Than this world could ever offer you!
How can you not see His precious face,
Or His soulful eyes,
As He looks down upon you with tender love and compassion?
How can you not see His arms opened wide,
And extended towards you, bidding you to come?
How can you reject the One who died in your place?
How can you not run into His arms,
And tell Him how much you love him,
And that you long for Him?
How can you not want to feel His warm embrace
As He wraps His loving arms around you?
How can you not hear Him whisper,
“I love you, my child, my precious child?”
How can you not know His heart for you,
A heart that longs to give you your heart’s desires,
A heart that longs to give you hope and a beautiful future,
A heart that thinks only good towards you continually?
How can you not know how much He desires
To bless you and to prosper you,
To envelop you in His love, and dry all your tears?
How can you not know
How much He longs to take your pain away,
And to heal your broken heart?
How can you not know about all the wonderful things,
That He has in store for you?
How can you not know about the many treasures of Heaven,
Or the magnificence of the mansions above?
How can the golden streets of that beautiful City,
The streams of Living water, or
The transcendent beauty of that heavenly paradise
That I yearn for so much not appeal to you?
Why is it so hard for you to open up your heart
And invite Jesus, the free gift of God,
To come in, and to be your Lord?
How can you not know
That the wages of sin is death,
But that the gift of God is eternal life?
Without Him, your soul is hopelessly lost forever!
How can that knowledge not propel you,
To respond to the call of your Savior
And surrender your heart to Him?
How can you not know,
Above the chaos and confusion of our day,
That Jesus wants to give you peace, His peace?
How can you not know that this world
And all that it has to offer
Is just for a time, that it will not last?
How can you not know that all the riches
And all the pleasures of this world cannot be compared
With the riches or the splendor of heaven?
Why do you work so hard to cater to the demands of your flesh,
And totally ignore your soul,
The most important part of you?
Why do you ignore your spiritual being, starving it half to death?
Do you not know that someday
Your soul will escape from this, your temporal body,
And will go to a place where it will never die?
Why do you not make preparation for your eternal soul?
Why do you neglect
To ensure a place for your soul in eternity
With the one who died to save you?
Why do you not understand
That the alternative is everlasting condemnation with Satan?
Hear the voice of Jesus today and do not harden your heart.
Do not reject your Savior because if you do, He will also reject you.
Today is the day of salvation.
Open your heart and let Jesus come in.
Open your mouth and say,
“Lord, I believe that you died for me.
Please come into my heart and make me whole.
Forgive me of all my sins,
Wash me, and I shall be clean.”
Because Jesus rose again from the dead three days later,
You have a hope of eternal life,
But only if you believe.
Salvation comes by faith in Jesus Christ
To all those who believe in Him.
