This picture grabbed my attention as I walked into our kitchen today and saw it on the refrigerator door. It has been sitting there for the last several years but today as I gazed at it, the year 2005 flooded my memory. Steve and I had just gotten engaged and were planning our wedding. We were so happy and so in love with each other! Today, as we look forward to celebrating our eleventh wedding anniversary next month, we are more in love with each other and happier than ever.
I believe it was love at first sight for each of us. We met online in January, had our first date in February, got engaged in April, bought our house and closed on it in August, and got married in October of the same year!. When Steve proposed to me on Good Friday, I was totally taken by surprise. It had been only three months since our first online contact. When I answered yes to his marriage proposal, I believe I made him the happiest man alive. There were actually tears of joy in his eyes! He got very emotional again as we exchanged our wedding vows!
This was a very memorable year for both of us and the happiest year of my life until 18 months later when I gave birth to our only child, Ashley. What a sweet and precious bundle of joy she was and still is! She is the love of our lives!
Steve and I have been through a lot over the years but each struggle only brought us closer together and to the Lord. I am truly blessed to find such a wonderful husband, a rare treasure, and a true blessing from God. Steve is a very humble, very loving, kind, affectionate and generous husband and a great dad to our daughter. We very generously love, honor, respect and appreciate each other.
When we got married, we really didn’t know each other much. We were very excited about our new found love and took a leap of faith. Today, almost 11 years later, we are very glad we took the plunge. We have no regrets and we love each other now more than ever before. Ours is an enduring love, the kind that lasts forever.
